Blogs in the Classroom
Using blogs with students in the classroom is a helpful tool because it teaches the students how to communicate with the mass and keep "tabs" on a specific topic or person. The most important thing to do with students is to teach internet safety. The most important thing is that the students need to realize how exposed they are to the outside world. Simply exposing any child to the dangers of the internet without explaining what they are and how to avoid them would be setting them up to walk straight into a trap. For them to understand the safety and importance of a blog in the classroom the teacher must take a huge role. The largest thing for teachers to use a blog for in the classroom is communication. In many classrooms the teacher might still send home a packet or the school might have a mandatory planner program. However with a blog, this eliminates any mistakes of communication on the student. This also makes it extremely clear to the parent what needs to happen exactly.
