This week I have created a web page that is all about how to take care of ferrets. This is an incredibly complex and time (and money) consuming process that will last years. This site will give people the introduction and information that they need to know before they buy a ferret and the vital information that they need for the first few months of owning a ferret.
How Do I Take Care of My Ferret?
This blog will follow me as I learn to incorporate the internet into a classroom setting.

Go2Web20 Online Application Review
Below I have further reviewed the online applications from Go2Web20.net. This website is a useful tool that allows access to online help for all student situations and subjects. There is no need to sign up for an account which makes for easy access. I will be using this site in my teaching for lesson planning and activities for students.
1. Pinterest The functions of this website include ideas of the many. This site has an idea and an instruction for anything you can imagine. This site has been in my personal life and I will be more than happy to extend it into my teaching life as I come up with ideas to keep my classroom fun and learning enjoyable. This site works well to get ideas for decorating, arts and crafts, activities, and lessons for young children. It does not work well for lesson planning for older children but everything else is still there for the older children and the classrooms that they occupy. The intended audience of this site is adults. This is an idea board for the facilitator of whatever idea they want to bring to life.
2. TwistyNoodle This site serves as an online coloring book where the teacher can choose the pages to coincide with the lesson of the day. This would be a great site to teach basic math, seasons, letters, shapes, animals, and so on. This will be a very useful for young children just being introduced into the outside world but would not be stimulating or even useful for older children who have already been exposed to the world and now understand these lessons. It is very obvious that the intended audience for this page is teachers of primary elementary students.
3. LittleBirdTales This is a wonderful site for all elementary students! This site will allow the children to draw their own images so that they stick with them and then put them into a book with a story all their own. I would use this to have the children show their understanding of any cycle. For example: seasons. Where do the animals and bugs go? What happens to the plants? What happens to the weather? This site will be perfect for the children to get excited about showing what they know.
4. BuddySchool This is a site that lets students of all ages that has many lessons to cover all categories. I would refer students to this site if they ever had any problems and suggest students who are excelling to get on there to help others. This is a site that works very well for to give students an extra source to help them learn. By getting all students involved it will create a group thinking process and help the class as a whole to excel.

Go2Web2.0: Online Tools and Applications
Upon the review of this website I have found many things that could prove to be useful and very helpful in the classroom, especially as a new teacher.
1. Pinterest This site has tons of ideas that vary across the imagination. This site would be helpful to get fun craft projects, organization ideas (for me and for the students), and a huge amount of ideas to keep the classroom fun and interesting to keep students engaged and help them want to learn.
To use this site, you do have to have an account but once you do simply type in what you want to find into the search box or search under the predetermined tabs.
2. TwistyNoodle This is wonderful for coloring pages for the younger students and for quiet, free time when students finish early. These coloring pages include teaching letters, seasons, counting, and so much more!
3. LittleBirdTales This is a wonderful site that teaches children all about nature and lets them create their own memories. After these memories are down on paper to share, the students can put them into a book and create a story to go along with their drawings. This will be a wonderful keepsake that the child and parents can treasure forever.
4. BuddySchool This is a wonderful site for extra support for students to study.

The Complications of Blogs in the Classroom
Through starting my blog I am quickly realizing that for everyone this may not be an easy thing. I feel that the biggest problem will be the use at home. Because of this I will always keep my posts short, sweet, and too the point. Whenever I have a link that needs to be followed or will be helpful it will always be at the bottom of the post with the title of what it will lead to or help with. It will always open in a new page. Hopefully by doing this it will eliminate as much stress as possible and keep learning fun!
For extra fun I have included a link to a Facebook page called The Meditation Clinic. She posts some very interesting things that I enjoy and would like everyone to have access to.

Google Apps for Education Lesson Plan: Book Buddies
In this lesson the students will use a computer program such as Paint and create drawings to tell a story. These drawings will later into a book furthering their technology skills. For students this will meet standards of creativity and teachers will be able to assess every student along the way. I think this is a good introduction to technology because it will teach kids the basics of a program that they could later use and get them comfortable simply being on a computer. By being comfortable with something simple it will make it easier to go to the more complicated things later on.
Standards of Technology
The main standard that would be met by a classroom blog would be digital citizenship. By having a classroom blog, the students would learn how to be an effective team player on a digital level. This will prepare them for almost any job in the workforce and lead them to build confidence when working in a group knowing they can be an effective member on any level.

Blogs in the Classroom
Using blogs with students in the classroom is a helpful tool because it teaches the students how to communicate with the mass and keep "tabs" on a specific topic or person. The most important thing to do with students is to teach internet safety. The most important thing is that the students need to realize how exposed they are to the outside world. Simply exposing any child to the dangers of the internet without explaining what they are and how to avoid them would be setting them up to walk straight into a trap. For them to understand the safety and importance of a blog in the classroom the teacher must take a huge role. The largest thing for teachers to use a blog for in the classroom is communication. In many classrooms the teacher might still send home a packet or the school might have a mandatory planner program. However with a blog, this eliminates any mistakes of communication on the student. This also makes it extremely clear to the parent what needs to happen exactly.
